Algarve named the Best Golf Holidays Destination in Europe!

The British magazine Today's Golfer considers the Algarve the best destination in mainland Europe to play golf by the cost / benefit (best value for money).

Algarve was the big winner of "Today's Golfer Travel Awards", ahead of great competitors such as, Turkey or the Costa Brava. The region encompasses 32 percent of the votes of 3,276 voters.
In the categories of "Best Field of Portugal" and "Best Hotel / Resort in Portugal", Algarve still leads the preferences with: Ocean Old Course in Vilamoura, and the Hotel Dona Filipa & San Lorenzo Golf Resort, in Vale do Lobo, were first, with 31.31 percent and 15.44 percent of the vote, respectively.
"We are very proud to receive the news that the Algarve was once again chosen by the quality of its golf product, moreover in the case of a prize awarded by a media outlet in the UK, which remains our main source market for tourists, "says the president of Tourism of the Algarve, António Pina.

"The New York Times" puts Algarve on TOP.

Algarve is one of the places elected by "The New York Times" to visit in 2012 in a list of 45 destinations. Ahead of the Antarctic and the Dominican Republic.

In a list of 45 global destinations, Algarve appears in 29th place, ahead of the Dominican Republic, Antarctica, Croatia and even France.
In a large article in the American newspaper dedicated to the choices for travel, appears the Algarve described as the "Riviera of Portugal" and is renowned for a number of luxury hotels renewed "that emphasize style, authenticity and attention to the environment," says journalist, satisfied with the development or renovation of several top hotel unit.
The article highlights the Bela Vista Hotel, in Praia da Rocha, a recovery of a villa from 1918 in charge of the French hotel Thierry Naidu, designed by Graça Viterbo, but also speaks of the quieter areas of the Algarve, such as Sagres, showing the hotel Martinhal Resort.

Algarve awarded as “The Best Sun Destination” on the Irish Travel Industry Awards 2011

The Irish market, highlights the region of the Algarve again by awarding the prize of "Best Sun Destination 'on 27th January, during the 19th edition of the Irish Travel Industry Awards, held at The Westin Hotel in Dublin.

The event was held at the main event in Irish tourism - "Holiday World"- aiming to reward local and international industry in 22 different categories, such as: Best Airline to Europe; Best Long Haul Airline, Best European City; Best Tour Operator Holidays Sun, among others.

According to Algarve Tourism Board, Portugal in this years edition was highlighted with a large delegation of AICEP in Dublin, to be among the nominees for the category of "Best Tourist Board in Ireland" and the Algarve to win in the category of "Best Sun Destination" leaving behind rivals such as Costa del Sol, Florida, Lanzarote and Turkey, nominated destinations for the same category.

For the Algarve Tourism Association, "this award is particularly important to increase awareness of the brand Algarve on the Irish trade, and can leverage some extent, the recovery process of issuing market" considered "decisive on tourism in the Algarve region" and to the national economy.
