Life of the Oceans”, Zoomarine at present occupies over 8 hectares,

The zoo is situated
between the villages of Barao de Sao Joao and Bensafrim in the
grounds behind the "O Cangalho" Restaurant and
houses more than 120 animal and 200 botanical species from the
5 continents, in a natural environment:
Conservation, Education and Protection is their
motto.
Species of animals the visitor can expect to see are emus, wallabies,
monkeys, lemurs, the Iberian Lynx, squirrels and exotic birds and parrots,
all kept in a natural environment.

an unique ecosystem in which microalgae, brine shrimp and salt
marsh birds have lived for centuries..
Ria Formosa is a natural habitat for flamingos, storks and many other
water-birds. Our salt production does not interfere in any way with
any wild animals in the Parque.
