Álamos Golf Course
Lying to the north of Portimão it is a neighbour of another Algarve Golf Course, Morgado do Reguengo. When playing Álamos golf course, players can enjoy great views of the Monchique mountains, lakes and farmland, there is a real sense of getting away from it all here. It’s shorter than Morgado (Par 71) but it has all the features necessary to fulfill the expectations of the most demanding player. More than a test of golf, Alamos Golf course attests to the harmony which may be achieved between the man-made and nature itself.
Excellent course, not the longest but a course you have to think your way around. Would definitely play again
Good service at reception and the bar with very friendly and helpful staff. Very friendly and polite course staff especially the Caddy Master and the Course starter. Unfortunately the tee boxes were not in a very good condition, very uneven with too much sand spread all over. Although the fairways were very dry in places, they played really well. The greens were excellent , true and very quick and were obviously well looked after..
Great golf course with plenty of variation between the holes. Greens can be tricky but thats the game. Great views on the 6th. Staff very helpful- particular the starter who gave some useful tips on the course before play. Len Jones Australia
Great course enjoyed it will lay again but shame they gave us the wrong score card!!
All was perfect.Thank you!
Very Friendly Staff excellent facilities.. Great Course.
Alamos was a very enjoyable golf course , very playable we would definitely return, The staff were helpful and courteous at all times.
Have played Alamos many times in previous years and this year was the best condition I have seen it. Very enjoyable
The greens were superb and the course quiet and well maintained. Staff excellent. We teed off 30 minutes early. Patches of very course grass close to greens was only negative.
Really enjoy Alamos, greens very quick and in good nick. Staff very friendly at Morgado & Alamos
A lovely course, especially for high handicapped players such as myself. Hole 19 has an excellent choice of snacks and main meals too.
Was supposed to be playing Morgado, but received notification in advance that would be changing to Alamos due to ongoing maintenance - arrived at course to be told that was back playing Morgado - no issues, all sorted efficiently and my party had a great day - course in great condition and greens were superb. One point of note - the course ranger coming out to players with ice cold towels was one of those simple things that makes the experience just that little bit different and makes it stand it from others many thanks for a great day
Very enjoyable round. Greens were good however tees and fairways a bit scruffy.
Good allround golf course playable for all golf abilities. As is the norm for this golf society. Competitive but with friendly atmosphere.

Course was in good condition, however 5 hours for a round of golf is not ejoyable. No efficiënt caddy master to speed up extremely slow flights. It was cold and windy and therefore 5 hours was far to much. Regards. Henk van der Lit
Very enjoyable day on an excellent course.
A very good course, with difficult greens. A course planner would have been helpful.
Excellent course, very well maintained and a pleasure to play.
Enjoyable round, group in front a bit slow.
William Stoker 2019-02-03
Not a bad course with some challenging holes, the experience spoilt by the fact that the bunkers hadn't been raked for days, my opinion is that priority is given to its sister course Morgado
Nice and challengin course with good greens
For the time of year in good conditioner, though a bit patzy. Bunkers as usual great textured, but some with to little sand - down to 0,5 cm.
Because of the competition on Morgado the Alamos course was absolutely full, there was no organisation either to put twos into fours and no marshals to keep play moving. A very poor experience extremely slow and we gave up after 10 holes as did other players.
Course is very beautiful, going through the a nice landscape. The maintenance of the course is very good. We have had a great day playing golf.
Alamos in relatively good condition - however, compared to other golf courses in the same area rather expensive for this time of the year
Enjoyed the course, the pace of play and the company, would like a return game there..KB
The course is nice, but the shape was not so good. The fairways are too muddy sometimes and not so well prepared. The cart paths are in a bad condition. Could be better.
Excellent game of golf
Interesting and good variation on different holes
This is a wilder golfing experience than Morgado, but has its own charm.
Course in need of tlc Club house and food good

Nice weather, nice people to play with, nice course, good service from Teetimes. Regards. Henk van der Lit
Excellent challenge for all players!

We had a very enjoyabke day at Álamos today. Only remark for pur site is that the greens at Alamos were better last Year as far as we remember. Henk van der Lit
Another great day with beautiful weather, an early start which was great as we were able to play at a great pace and complete our round under four hours. Great company in the club house afterwards, thank you again
Not having a buggy made the experience less favourable
Nice course. Very enjoyable.
Very good..friendly and course always in good condition
Sean O' Mahony2018-10-15
Course was great, value good but the pace of play was too slow. In addition there were no trolleys available initially which would have likely precluded us from playing.
philip a lander2018-10-11
Good golf course I would like to think it would suit all standards of golf
Fantastic course. Much better grass then Salgados
We had a very enjoyable day. The course was ideal for our holiday golf needs. Not penal but still a good test. In excellent condition. One of our players was unable to get an electric trolly. That was our only quibble but it didn't detract from a excellent experience.
Nice course, paired with another couple to play round ( first time this has ever happened)
very good course, greens a little bit slow but all in all a great experience
Nice course greens in really good condition
Very well run course and clubhouse This course has become a regular on our yearly visit.
We actually did not play the Morgado course as we were advised that it was extremely busy. Instead they asked us if we would like to play the Alamos course. I had played this course some years ago and was not really impressed with it then but decided to try it again. I'm glad I did as it had improved dramatically. Would recommend the course to anybody.
Love Alamos golf course, but disappointed to find play was very slow. However, the ranger soon realised the group in front of us had lost several holes and very quickly sorted out the problem. Felt that the starter could have mentioned at the beginning that the second toilet block was out of action, as we were relying on it and didn't take advantage of the first toilet block! Would have helped. Course is still as interesting as ever, always enjoyable, but enjoyment reduced by slow play.
Very different experience to many other courses. This is more akin to a links course given its hard open fairways. Difficult to find. Security barrier at entrance. No signs for golf course lef to confusion on our part. Loved the views of the Portuguese countryside.
Rigtig dejlig bane hvor der skal tænkes golf og ikke bare slå langt, men desværre er banen ikke grøn alle steder????????
Greens cut long and so so slow saw 1 golfer chip on green as he was so far from the hole course generally in good nick although ball cleaners mostly dry small detail but annoying course too short for us golfers playing off 17 handicap
Great driving range Really lovely course it’s like an in land links with the undulation and features first time I’ve played it definitely play it again.good test for all standards, greens are slow but true.a buggy is a must
Very frienfly staff. Course in good condition and a nice round of golf. Surroundings are a little sad with unfinished buildings in the hills close to the course.
Michael Long 2018-07-12
Course in good condition. Very short course. Bunkers need more sand but overall a grand course.
Staff friendly and helpful ,course generally in good nick, luckily the starter got us off before a large group else we would still be out there now!!,it took us 3.5 hours. Greens sanded and very slow but were told by staff that Morgado was much better,we were playing there two days later,VERY disappointed when we turned up to be told it was shut for a month without prior warning.
Excellent course great fun to play. Friendly welcome and club house setting.
Great facilities. Course was fairly short in length
First time played a bit rough on areas recently been under maintainence still in recovery but we were aware before playing. Potentially a good course some interesting and difficult holes.

All went well
We enjoyed our day at Alamos, everything went well, clubs were in good condition and booking in and service from staff was good.
Very new and quite bare, maybe play again but not in near future
Still young and had a water problem which meant some bunker puddles, will be good when matured
Challenging course with tricky greens .Was in very good condition .Would definitely play again
The course is too short to be considered a proper golf course. On the positive side the greens are very well kept.
Nice golf course in the mountain area. Many buildings which need to be finished, which did not look appealing. Course was ok, fairways were a little bit sloped, which gave for a single handicapper a little bit of difficulty, but course was very easy to play. Early in the morning start (7:30) so course was empty. Greens were not difficult at all. Service in the restaurant was ok.
The greens were great. Lack of maintenance on the fairways and roughs.
Disappointed to be put out as a 2 ball amongst 4 balls, waited on every hole took 5 hours to play!
Fine course. Good facilities except ladies loos especially around door handles need a good clean. “sticky” yuk
Excellent golf course. Very enjoyable game here as usual. will return
Always an interesting challenge. Dispite some iffy weather not enough to dampen the fun though. A good venue for a sociable afternoon with good company in a relaxed competitive mood.
Beautiful setting for a golf course. Course in good condition and it was a very fair course. Slow going with a five hour round. It didn't really matter to us but it might to others.
No problems, good service
Nice course and greens in good condition. Our problem was the ignorant and very slow hackers in front who held us up abysmally.
Quite open course needs to mature a bit nice holes
Super parcours, tres strategique et tres franc, le driver n est pas obligatoire. Les greens sont infernaux!! Super
Olá, estava muito bem. Todos! Muito obrigada. Maren Liehr
We were allowed to go off early and the play moved really swiftly. Lovely course. Best of the three perhaps.
lange Wege zwischen den Löchern, sehr hügelig, wenig Mülleimer
Had the first two tee times for the day. Great to have a whole course for your self! More or less all holes are in it's own "room".
Because oft the weather conditions we player. Only 9 holes the course was in gold shäpe we come back.
Alamos was a nice golfcourse. I liked it more than morgados. We just had bad luck with the weather. I hope to come and play here again in better weather conditions.
Very good , the course has a nice mix challenges. Only mild surprise is that it is the only place I played in Algarve where they require a €20 deposit on the buggy.
H. van der Lit2018-02-24
We had a very pleasant afternoon on a not to busy course, which is in good condition considering the dry weather in the Algarve. Tee Times performed asual punctually. Regards. Henk van der Lit
Nice and good condition course, carts were extremely expensive.
a good one
PGA had competition on this course we teed off 45 minutes and the round took 5hrs and only just finished before dusk - I feel the course should not have made general bookings knowing PGA were there for Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th.
satisfied with course and price
it was fun and had a great time. everybody was super nice and made the round very enjoyable.
Great course with tricky greens. Windy day today made the course even harder. Beautiful countryside views.
The course was in good condition with tricky greens. It was a long walk from the lb house to the 1st tee and an even longer walk from the 18th back to the club house. In total we covered 6.5 miles for a course which was barely 3 miles tee to green although we got around in 4.5 hours which wasn't too bad.
A very good course. Well maintained with lots of different hole styles. Not very long but very enjoyable.
Campo divertente. Ho giocato da tee bianchi, non è lungo quindi da tee a green non ci sono problemi,.i green sono molto belli mossi veloci con un sacco di pendenze.
A hidden gem in the algarve
Course in really good condition today and a great time of year to play with no hold ups at all. Reception staff very helpful as always.
Course in great condition, friendly staff. An excellent afternoon spent in the warm December staff. Thank you to Teetimes for arranging our round.
nice course good greens rewards short game
Norbert van der Plas2017-12-20
Open, quiet course. Great golfing experience.
Martin Georg Hilke2017-12-14
Lovely landscape, Broad Fairways, friendly atmospere, kitchen could be better
Beautiful golf course in a lovely area - well kept and challenging. Facilities good and customer service throughout was fine. Really great day
Nice generous layout with greens in very good condition
It was too much dirties outside fairways, why I think it was my last visit to Alamos, sorry to say.
Very slow round of golf. 5 hour round.
Really enjoyed Alamos today. The course was in good shape and the greens were in excallent condition.
it's always a pleasure to play this course
Very friendly - course in good condition
Excellent - Will be back to play again
Excellent golf course, some areas damaged and under repair, excellent club house and facilities
Good course with interesting holes
this course was our fourth time playing, the greens were excellent as in the past, considering how dry the summer has been, the whole aspect was very good. i recommend highly
We enjoyed Alamos very much but we're very disappointed that no buggies were available. As our group age is 60 to 70 some would have required buggies..
Best course of the two
Terrific course in good condition. Staff are always friendly and welcoming.
Hans Jørgen Ekmann2017-09-23
A very good idea to have buggies including an ice-bucket
A course truly in the country, with fantastic views over the Monchique foothills. Not a long course but needs careful negotiation and club selection. The main defense are the greens with lots of undulations. Good putting will get you a score.
great course and facilities
Too busy but this was because Morgado was closed in advance of the Portuguese open.
nice course only problem was slow play
Lovely open countryside course, with a good sensible buggy policy after bad weather.
Lovely views and setting and variety of the holes. Long walks between some holes, means rounds take almost 5 hours
Christine Hopkins 2017-03-17
Course in good condition
Not in great shape but still as enjoyable as ever
the frontnine is very strenuous becaue the course is quite hilly. The fairways are narrow. Not very recommendable
Bep Van Der Pas2017-03-05
First few holes are awful, certainly when there is a strong wind. Second nine holes are more pleasant.
Fantastisches Layout und Topqualität
Päivi Melkko 2017-02-25
Very nice and peaceful, beautiful
Apart from a little congestion at the first tee we enjoyed playing Alamos
Really liked this course, great scenery and some great holes, slightly dissapointing greens, had not been cut and were a bit wolley
Just a little disappointing today. The recent wet weather meant that the greens had not bee cut. Hence they were wooly and very slow. Putting was difficult. However the winning score was 38 pts so it did suit some! Always nice to play Alamos as it needs good course management. Good reception at the clubhouse pro shop and very friendly.
Lovely course, well set out, back 9 holes a challenge. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Only negative point, perhaps, was the unexpected long walk to the first tee from the clubhouse. This information wasn't very clear.
Bep Van Der Pas2016-11-20
Alamos has really improved on what it used to be. It looks quite a nice course now.
Nice and friendly course , but farways is not good on all holes.
COURSE WAS FAIR BUT RESTURANT STAFF NOT FRIENDLY
Always a pleasure to return
Played a few times before Never seen it so busy 5hr round Good course
Bep Van Der Pas2016-10-13
The tournament was cancelled, however since we were there we played. Only 9 holes though as it started to rain rather heavily, which left the course soaking wet, big puddles in bunkers and puddles on the green. The buggy paths are abominabel, large pottholes which obviously are full of water after it rained. Having said that both Morgado and Alamos are one of the very few courses in the Algarve with still reasonable green fees.
Alamos was in good condition and it was great to see investment in the courses for the future developments.
Excellent. Lovely course, quiet course.
Bar- catering staff outstanding. Course in better shape and more interesting than Morgado. Staff in pro-shop check in seem depressed!
beautiful rural setting. not an easy course as there is hardly a flat lie.
Really enjoyed the course, such a shame we could not have played the sister course, maybe next time. The nice touch of having a bottle of water and cold towels during the round was very nice too. Staff were delightful. But trying to find this if you are resident in Alvor it is difficult to find. we suggested to the club that they put the GPS onto the website. we had to ask for directions because we could not find it on the car GPS.
Course was in excellent condition just wish they had cut the greens as they were painfully slow
A wonderful place and the staff are outstanding
Not to difficult. A little dry. Good price value.
This is a nice course, however the roads around the course could do with a bit of an upgrade.
Lovely course and a true challenge for all grades of player.
Great course but very exhausting without car! Excellent scenery! Great greens and fairways. Golf from its best!
Course in good condition. Greens poor
Course was in a very good condition but it took over 5 hours to play as the course was packed out.
They were unable to give us a buggy as they never had enough, & it turned out to be very tiring walking up & down hills.
ADRIAN FRASER JONES2016-05-03
really good value
Just like to say thank you everything went like clock work and I would recommend your site to anyone who wish to go on a golf holiday
Should inform customers of major works on the course, greens where not the best due to winter treatments. Value for money excellent.
Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere, would have to been told greens just dressed and very slow
The greens were dreadful. Recently hollow tined and heavily sanded.
Wegen der Platzpflege haben wir Alamos nicht gespielt.
Alamos was a challenging as ever, reception was efficient and all staff friendly and helpful.
As above, first class. A very enjoyable course to play on a golfing holiday.
Very good course with huge acreage giving a spacious feeling. Best of the 3 courses by far
Very nice course.
Have enjoyed this since it opened.
Good course for less formal surroundings
The course was fine.. Was ok for us, but would not be suitable for 'good' golfers - Quite an easy course so this suited us
Course in excellent condition
Mrs Emma Valle2015-10-25
Alamos is a cracking course. Conditions were superb, although greens were a bit difficult (undulating!!!) Layout and paths seem to make a bit more sense than the Morgado, however both were great.
The Alamos provided more interesting and variety of holes which generally tests your course management.
RATHER SLOW AT TIMES
The second buggy I needed was not booked and there were none available when I arrived. It should have been ordered at the same time as the one with the package.
Álamos Golf Course is a beautiful par 71 course, located with its sister course Morgado in its own vast area of rolling hilly countryside and fertile farmland, between Portimão and the lovely mountain town of Monchique. It is definitely one of the most enjoyable golf courses in the Algarve with several stunning views over the surrounding landscape . The course provides a very pleasant game of golf. It offers wide, hilly greens, with a variety of sometimes very open and sometimes tight fairways to test driving ability! It is surrounded by a forest filled with the local flora, orchids and even a vineyard! For naturalists there is a feast of birdlife to look out for and you may even find traces of one of the region's most famous inhabitants, the wild boar. As ever, the society had a mixture of regular visitors and new faces who all professed to having had an enjoyable game. This was reflected in the scoring which was generally good. Nearest the Pin at the very pleasant short 9th Hole was Ian Humphries (12), who also finished in 2nd place in the Men’s competition with 36 Points ahead of a number of players on 33 points. The winner though, was Tracey McCall (8) with 37 Points on the day. Best Lady was Pam Williams (26) with 31 Points. With Del’s kitchen closed as Joao has a short holiday, we returned to Chez Carlos where Felipe again provided nibbles enjoyed by all with an accompanying drink – or 2, or 3..... Next week, Millennium, golf course. Ron McLachlan 13th January 2014
Alamos Golf Course : Chez Carlos Golf Society Competion 17 players tee'd off on another sunny but chilly Algarve day. Alamos golf course was in pretty good condition with the greens running true and this was reflected in the scores. Scores were as low as 24 and as high as 41 and the four players who struggled to make the 30 points mark were rewarded with an extra shot on their handicaps, these were Jeff Williams, Colette Bourke, Tony McInerney and Chris Milford. At the top end Alan Wesson had another amazing golf round shooting 3 under on the back 9 with 3 birdies and 6 pars - well done Alan who has racked up 3 wins in a row and will now be playing off 5.

It was November the last time we played Alamos so a return back was long overdue. After very changeable weather over the last few weeks it appears to have settled down to the conditions that we would normally expect of May even though a strong wind picked up on the day. It was a Sunday game this time as the FA Cup in England took precedent on the Saturday. It didn't detract from a band of ten golfers assembling to take on this picturesque and peaceful course at the foothills of the Monchique mountains. Fairways were excellent and even though the greens had been spiked in the week they ran extremely well. It has been awhile since the 'girls' took over the top spots so congratulations. It was Jet's first time at Alamos 'I loved the course and will be back'. The Society is planning to return this Summer with a trip up into the mountains for a piri -piri lunch afterwards. Watch out for the invitation!
Chez Carlos Golf Society2011-11-21
Scheduled to play Morgado but because of the recent rains play was switched to Alamos on the advice of the golf reception – a decision that was justified by the time we finished. Whilst the course was very wet in places overall it was a drier place to be than Morgado. Total of nine players today resulted in us going out in three groups of 3. Thankfully the rain kept away with near ideal conditions to play. Special mention must go to the conditions of the greens- excellent considering the amount of rainfall they had received and very quick at times!
