Santo Antonio Golf Course
Golf Santo António sits in the far west of the Algarve, above the fishing village of Salema and within reach of Sagres and the Costa Vicentina nature reserve. Opened in 1987 as Parque da Floresta, it was designed by the Spanish architect Pepe Gancedo, whose approach favoured working with the land rather than reshaping it. The course has since hosted the EuroPro Tour, a mark of a layout with genuine teeth.
That character comes from the terrain itself. Fairways climb and drop through a valley lined with pine, eucalyptus and olive trees, with blind shots on several holes and greens set on raised ground. No two holes play alike, and the variety keeps golfers guessing well into the back nine. The 11th is the acknowledged signature hole, and the closing stretch brings you home beneath the clubhouse terrace with sea views on the horizon. A buggy is recommended given the elevation changes throughout the round.
Off the course, there's a clubhouse restaurant and snack bar, a driving range, putting green and resident professionals for lessons, plus locker rooms and club hire from Callaway and Wilson ProStaff. It's a course with a loyal following — golfers who play it once tend to come back to try and master it. For anyone building a western Algarve golf break, Santo António earns its place on the itinerary: a proper, old-school test set in some of the region's most dramatic landscape.

I absolutely believe this is one of the better mid grade courses in the Algarve. It is quite challenging, fun to play and requires some skill to put up a score. Playing with a good group of golfers all agreed that this was a bit of a hidden gem and exceptional value. The reception staff was courteous and efficient, and the restaurant/bar staff was very good with service and personality. The course itself was in very good condition with the greens being lush and a bit slow but running very true and smooth. Our whole group enjoyed their round and our Society will be booking here in the future for sure.

We all enjoyed the course.
The greens where a little slow and the holes had scruffy edges as though they hadn't been moved for a few days.
Other than that everything else was fine.

Course was in good condition for the time of year , unfortunately having a buggy didn’t help as we had to keep to the cart paths as course was still wet.
The buggy had seen better days, brakes were poor and seat must have been left in the rain, as every time you sat down water came through the seams.

Very difficult course, conditions were extra difficult with strong winds. Unfortunately not one I would rush back to play. Club house and service was good course condition was good just very difficult course with a lot of hills and slopes to deal with.

Interesting course, lovely views, but didn't like their policy of 'No Buggys on the course' , when there are a lot of holes you cannot see where the fairway goes, and can't take buggy easily to check due to path edges.
