A well-kept course on a flat terrain with many palm trees and waterhazards. Some greens and tees are very close to each other and caution is required!
The self-service of the restaurant we feel as a no-go.

Booked and paid for buggies but had to wait for them to be available - too many people on this golf course - course is suffering as a result - played four courses this year and this was the least enjoyable

The course was enjoyable. As advocates of eliminating slow play we were happy to receive a message before the round that we should play the front nine in 2 hours. However, the threat from the starter that if we didn’t we would not be able to play the back nine until 5pm was both un-necessary and intimidatory, our tee off was 9am.

The course was in fantastic shape.
The only thing that spoilt the day was we were waiting a long time for the group in front they had lost 2 holes and there were no Marshall to get them moving

The course was in good condition and represents a test with all of the water on the course. If you are lucky you will see trout leaping from the water on the fresh water holes. However, being one of the cheaper courses and closest to Albufeira it was very busy, which is great for their business. However, they appear to let anyone on the course which makes it slower than it needs to be. Actually we had a two ball in front who had one set of clubs between them. This should have been a red light to the staff as they admitted that it was the first time they had played golf.

Holes 7, 8 and 9 offer a particular challenge, where the water hazards could force a lack of concentration. Amendoeira always provides a consistent quality every time we visit the Algarve. A few things to note this year though....no range balls in the machine however this was quickly resolved by the team and free balls handed out to all those waiting. Wild Boars have/are tearing up certain areas of the course. The greens had not been cut or the dew whiffed away the morning we played which was disappointing and we never saw the refreshments cart during the 5hr round. The O'Connor was in OK condition which in hindsight was much better than way more expensive courses we played later that week. A solid 7/10 and a good addition to any golf trip.

it takes to much time, to much waiting time. Service at the reception of the golf club not friendly at all. And nowadays you have to bring your gofbag down to the buggies youself and it is quiet a walk to go there. Very bad service. Food in the restaurant and service is not good anymore. One can feel the new management of the whole thing and it is not positive.

The course has gone down in the last few years since I played it last. Tee boxes were in very poor condition overgrown with weeds. With scutch grass growing through the normal grass. Fairways fair and greens not too bad. Overall it is not up to standard. Clubhouse and general staff a bit nonchalant. Overall I wont be back to either Faldo or o'Connor and I would not recommend either at the price.

We've stayed at Balaia 7 or 8 times previously and like to use the practice facilities, plus the course is a good test or iron/wedge skills, however this time we found the driving range was almost unusable, partially closed and the rest had no grass, the range balls were disgusting, absolutely filthy and ancient, the greens were in awful condition, everything really looked like it was going down hill. Also the etiquette of some of the guests was dreadful. Additionally the service at the club house was awful, one day we actually walked away after having waited over quarter of an hour to be served, with no other clients in there.

Pretty average. 5hrs45 for a round of golf is inexcusable.
Very shabby tee boxes, not mown, like a beach.
Bunkers not raked. No surprise, given none of the rakes had teeth.
A real shame, as the course should be lovely, but the experience is not.

Wonderful golf course, in great condition. Great facilities and helpful staff.
Sadly let down by their inability to pick up our group as they offered/arranged which meant having to change our tee time by 2 hours, which wasn't really suitable, but had no choice really.

The weather for the week of our golf trip was awful however the forecast for the day we had planned to not play golf was looking promising so we did a last minute booking at Pine Cliffs and decided to have a pairs texas scramble for a bit of fun. It's not a course that will see regular groups of golfers, it's more of a holiday resort set-up for families and guests staying at the hotel. The facilities are very good, service was ok and the course despite not being long or particularly challenging was in good condition. The greens were better than most that we played on this years golf trip. Don't expect a quick round, we made it to the par 3 6th across the ravine to find 3 other groups already waiting to tee off. Handicap certs clearly not required, some entertainment can be had watching the first tee with a beer in your hand after you've finished.
